A very worthy cause that both of your Admins support – PLEASE consider adopting a black animal; they’re the least likely to be adopted in shelters & are often time, euthanized, first.

The second annual “Acoustic-4-A-Cure” benefit concert will be held May 15 at the Masonic in San Francisco. Metallica‘s James Hetfield and rocker Sammy Hagar will appear at the event again this year, along with several other musicians.
Also playing acoustic sets will be Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pat Monahan (Train), Linda Perry and Joe Satriani. There will be solo songs, duets, jam sessions and special guests.
The event benefits the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. “Acoustic-4-A-Cure” was created by Hagar and Hetfield, whose vision was to raise funds and awareness for the Pediatric Cancer Program at UCSF by bringing together some of their friends and throwing a must-see concert for fans.
Last year’s inaugural concert included numerous memorable moments such as Hetfield’s acoustic rendition of The Beatles “In My Life,” Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Hetfield and Satriani playing a medley of Bob Seger’s “Turn the Page” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and the closing all-star jam with Hagar, Hetfield, Armstrong, Satriani, Monahan and Nancy Wilson performed Bob Dylan’s “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35″ to close the show.
Tickets for “Acoustic-4-a-Cure” go on sale Friday, April 10 at this location.

This looks like a great event and cause!
Just found this charity, Sophie’s Place, which helps abused children, through a tweet by Gene Simmons, Sophie’s father:
SOPHIE’S PLACE is a child advocacy centre focussed on providing specialized services to physically, mentally or sexually abused children up to age 18 in a child-friendly setting.
SOPHIE’S PLACE provides an opportunity to participate in the safeguarding of our children and in playing a key role in their healing process.
SOPHIE’S PLACE is named for the centre’s patron Sophie Tweed-Simmons.
“It’s really important that kids can have a place to go where they can be taken seriously, and where they can express what’s happened to them in a safe environment,” says Sophie Tweed-Simmons.

SOPHIE’S PLACE –
TO HELP THE MOST VULNERABLE
SOPHIE’S PLACE is the result of significant collaboration between the Surrey RCMP, Ministry of Children and Family Development, City of Surrey, Ministry of Justice Victim Services and Crime Prevention, and The Centre for Child Development.
SOPHIE’S PLACE enables the collaborating agencies to respond to child abuse in a compassionate and highly integrated manner.
“Sophie’s Place is a safe, friendly and welcoming place for children and youth who report sexual or physical abuse,” says City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts.
This no-kill shelter in California is very near and dear to the hearts of both Robert Sarzo and his wife Avery Goldberg. Please consider supporting this worthy cause in whatever way you can!
“Our Goal is to build no-kill shelters and homes where animals can live in healthy surroundings until they are adopted”
Our mission is to protect the health and safety of animals by providing charitable assistance in our no-kill shelter for all animals. Bestow daily care, rehabilitate homeless, displaced, or injured animals; to find such animals’ good homes; and to educate the public as to how to bring about a time when the shelters are only empty cages and unwanted animals will never be destroyed needlessly.
